Ian's First Pumpkin Carving

Wednesday, October 29 2008.

Today is the first time for Ian to design and carve his pumpkin with the help from daddy. When we went to the Ganyard Farm Hill, we are allow to take home 2 pumpkins. To make it fair so everybody can have their own (mommy, daddy, and Ian) we buy the last one from Wallmart. It is not as great as the one from the farm but good enough hehehehe ...

First we line up the pumpkin on the top of the table in our formal living room.

Then Ian start with his inspection, which pumpkin can achieve his standard ... weight, size, shape, and color. Finally we have the winner which one is for Ian ... the smallest one ..

The next step is for daddy to clean inside the pumpkin because mommy didn't like anything slimmy hehehe ... and of course Ian cannot do that.

Daddy look like an expert doing this. This is the first time for mommy and Ian carving the pumpkin. Because in Indonesia, we cook and eat the pumpkin. Vegetables is a food not decorations heheheh ...

Since Ian not allow to be close to daddy and daddy can concentrate cleaning, he entertains himself by up and down the stair .. with mommy supervision.

Finally the time to carve the pumpkin is start. First, Ian check his pumpkin.

Then daddy show him an example by doing daddy's pumpkin face first. Ian observe the process seriously.

Hmmmm.... this is what I will draw on mine daddy .... let me think about that again ... go ahead do yours first ...

Aha ... triangle eyes, triangle nose, and how about the lips?

Ooooo zigzag lips ... I approve it daddy ...

I can see the face now ... what is the next process?

Oooooo the danger part involving the tools that I cannot use .... knife ... I will just sit and supervise you daddy ..
Now, lets do mine ... with my design ... of course ...

Triangle and round eyes ... half circle nose .... I am not sure about mouth ... what do you think about that daddy? I need an expert advice.

OK how about from this side (left) to this side (right) or the pumpkin face?

Nope still, I don't like that idea daddy. Let me just do it my way... let me hold the pen by myself ... I am quite creative ... you know ... I know ...

Done daddy ... can you carve it for me, please? Because I am not allow and don't know how to use the knife. I am just lucky tonight mommy allow me to be close to the knife ... I can see she is nervous hehehe

Hurray ... my pumpkin is finish ... did you see the face?

Now is mommy turn but I want to sit on her lap and make her more nervous ... with me so close to the knife ..

Finally all pumpkin are ready to be display in front of our house...

Ian design ...... combination of mommy and daddy design ... mommy pumpkin have round eyes, daddy pumpkin have triangles eyes, and Ian pumpkin have both ...

Let me see... I think they are look great daddy....

But this locations is better according to mommy and daddy agree about it too hehehe

Finally strep is taking pictures with mommy and daddy ...
We have a great time .... thank you daddyyyy ...

Trip to Ganyard Hill Farm

Friday, October 24 2008.

Today mommy and Ms. Amy Tarnowsky take Michael J and I to Ganyard Hill Farm located at 319 Sherron Rd., Durham, NC 27703 . The farm only 5.3 miles/ 9 minutes away from our house. Mommy and daddy didn't know about this until Ms. Amy have this trip for us. We choose Friday morning, hoping not much people will be there so Michael J and I can enjoy our time at the farm. For me (Ian) this is the first farm trip I ever have, mommy and I looking forward for this.

The weather quite cold today so mommy bundle me with orange sweater and hat. Mommy love this hat but then we lost it in the corn maze.

Since our house quite close to the farm, Ms. Amy and Michael J will swing by to our house so we can drive together to the farm.

I am so anxious waiting for them to come, you can see from my face. Poor mommy, she is trying to entertains me and packing some snacks and drinks for me.

There are several activities you can do in this farm such as;

1. Visit the barnyard and pretending to milk the cow;
2. Cotton picking;
3. Get lost in the corn maze;
4. Playing in the little corn maze for toddler;
5. Playing in the little hay maze for toddler;
6. Playing in the hay hill with slide and tunnels;
7. Hay ride; and
8. Slide in the big slide.

So many things to do and so little time mommy gives to us.

By the time we arrive at the farm we realize so many kids are there too. Unfortunately, 4 kindergarten class have their school trip the same day. The parking lots have so many school bus, I am so exciting because this is the first time for me to see the real school bus. So as soon as mommy let me out of my car seat, I run to the school bus. Mommy need to chase me, to make sure I am save. We park our car in the open field in front of the yard by the school bus.

After mommy and Ms. Amy pay our admission ticket we get into the farm.

I am so exciting to see the wooden little cow, everybody try to milk the mommy but I like this little one.

Then of we go to the cotton field, this is the first time for me to see the real cotton. I am not sure what should I do with it. So Michael J and I just walk around ......

Then we see a lot of children in little corn maze for toddler, Michael J run to the left and I run to the right. Ms. Amy and mommy try to catch us to make sure we are safe because so many big children (well children bigger and older than us) running around in speed. Mommy need to warn some of them because they run without watching us little one and make us fall down.

This field is my size, I am trying to walk in the path but its so tempting to walking in between the corn. I fall and tumble so many times but I have a lot of fun.

I fall and fall.... Michael J where are you? He is hiding ... and mommy take a picture of him while he is hiding from us ... did you see him?

Then we decide to go to the adults corn maze. Michael J and I walk in between the corn, mommy and Ms. Amy follow us. Walking between the corn more fun that walking in the path ... for us .... not for mommies hehehehe .....

As usual, I fall again .....

Michael J, wait for me .... don't leave me ...

I am trying to run as fast as I can to chase Michael J but he is so fast. His mommy even lost him 2 times in between the corn. But we find him hehehe ....

Then we playing with this corn tree ....

I am still trying to get use to walk between this corn ...

And then I meet this Asian little girl .... just passing by ..

Well, Michael J an I just goofing around hehehe .... we are having fun .....

Michael J and I find buried corn so we decide to investigate it ....

Of I go again in between the corn....

Finish with the corn maze, off we go to see the barnyard. This is a little boar but he or she a kind of shy ... I think ....

So I decide to climb this barb wire/fence... but of course I can ... well little boar, sorry I cannot save you today ... may be one day ...

Then Michael J and I go to milk the cow but this time we are in the back side of the cow hehehehe .... we know the secret now ... it a bucket of water ....

I am so wet after that because the big kids splash ...

After milking the cow, we are playing at the toddler size hay maze. This is more our size.

Beside the corn maze, I find a big yellow slide. The slide so high ... you can see it by comparing with the size of the adult behind it .... anyways ... I am having a great time ... I slide, I slide, and I slide ....
Next is the big hay bale with the big tunnel slide and tunnels. I am so exciting because I never know where I can go walking inside this tunnel.

Start from this side and end on the other side .... mommy chasing me around ... she work out a lot today ..

Well, this is the end of this one ...

Let me climb this tube ...

I decided to go down now ...of I go somewhere else ...

Hmmm... the fun farm facts ... what is under neath this ... or this ... or this one ....

Other ... Honey Bee Buzz ... let me see this ....
I am going back to the hay ... it is more fun ...

Did you see I am having fun ... but now the trip to pcik the pumpkin ..

Let me see how the pumpkin growth chart ... well.. of we go to the patch then ...
As usuall ... of course I fall again ...

I have pumpkin under neath me ... Michael J, please wait for me ....

Uuuuu ... what you got .... the little one and the rooten one ....

This is me and mommy .... but so difficult to have a good picture of mommy and me ... this is the only one ....
Then of we go for the ride ... I enjoy the ride so much .. This is my favorite part of the trip. Mommy cannot believe I just sit still during the ride. Because I enjoy it so much ...

Do you see the little pumpkin that Michael J hold? Pay attention of it ...
After the ride we playing with pumpkin. Mommy wants us to choose but we want to paly with it first. This time I hold the little pumpkin that Michael J had earlier. I lkie this little one and not so care with the big one.

Then mommy put me sit in this bale hay. Then Michael J join me too. The mommies start taking pictures of us. W have lots of nice and silly pose hehehehe

Done with the pose we move to white pumpkin. I like it so I leave the little pumpkin on the ground.

Well, I still like my little orange pumpkin so I hold it back. Then mommy and Ms. Amy choose 4 bigs pumpkin to take it home and put the little pumpkin inside platic bag. This time Michael J take it with him.
Our next stop is the barnyard again. This time we see goats.

Then I decided to give this other little pumpkin to the goat. Poor goat, he only can lick it from the other side of the fence...
After this the mommies decided to go home and ended the trip.
Outside the farm, the mommy realize where is the little pumpkin hehehehe .... we leave it in front of the fence with the goat ....
Ms. Amy thought it is with my mom and my mom thought it is with Ms. Amy ...
Hehehehe ... mommies ... they are so tired ... so they forget hehehehe ...
We did have a great time, even though I am wet and cover with hay inside and out side.

Before we ended the trip, mommy took a picture of me, Michael J, and Ms. Amy.
Thank you Ms. Amy for arranging this trip. I have a great timeeeee ....
